In Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, wealthy tourist attractions sit a short distance from great poverty. Our team passed out 400 shirts and helped build homes for families living in the area.

A few facts about Santo Domingo:

• About 1/4 of the population in Santo Domingo lives in poverty
  • As a whole, 42% of the population in the Dominican live under the poverty line
• Unemployment hovers around 15%
• 1 in 40 infants die before reaching their first birthday.  
• Only about 10% of the population has a fixed telephone line, though many do have cellular phones.
